Q: What are the available computer resources in the department?
A: The University College network offers HP/Fujitsu Siemens running Windows 7/XP,
Packard Bell running Vista/Windows 7, Office 2007/2010, 25 laser printers and five
color printer (all postscript). All of these resources are available to student,
faculty and staff.
Q: How do I get an email /portal account?
A: Administration department will be issuing email ID, Portal ID and Password to
access email and online resources respectively.
Q: What is my username and password on the network?
A: The last four digit of your ID card is your username and your default password
is also the same. You can change your password when you logon for the first time.
Q: What is my email address?
A: username registerID@skylineportal.com is your email address.
Q: How do I read and send email?
A: In the internet explorer bar type http://mail.skylineportal.com. Put your email
id and password to access email.
Q: What applications are on the PCs?
A: The computer lab runs Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7. On those machines,
you can find SPSS, Firefox, Microsoft Office 2007, MySql, Java, HTML/XHGML/DHTML,
real player, VLC player etc.
Q: How much can I print?
A: As of now, it is paid service; you can print as per your requirements. However,
we recommend usage of soft copies as far as possible due to environmental concerns.
Q: Can my {friend, relative} use my account?
A: No, the same is not permitted in the institution. This may result in disabling
of account on first warning and later permanent removal of account if the student
is found not to be complying with the policies of the institution. The decision
to reopen the account remains on the discretion of the Dean Academics or Director
Academic Support Services.
Q: How do I mail the IT Department?
A: The IT Department can be reached at Lss@skylineuniversity.com
Q: What machine should I read my mail on?
A: You can read your mail from any PC running on Windows/Linux/Mac platform that
you login from. However, please don't open your account from two different machines
*at the same time* (or use two mail programs on the same machine at the same time)
as you may corrupt your mail file.
