Tell me about Skyline University College library?
The SUC Library was established in 1990. The Library caters to all the students,
faculty and staff of SUC to pursue higher studies and research in accomplishing
their degrees as well as the local community. The Library provides conducive learning
environment in teaching and research programs of SUC by acquiring and making available
all learning resources. The sole objective is to serve the right information to
the right user at the right time.
SUC Library strives to enhance the personal growth of students and contribute to
the development and sustainability of students, faculty and other members through
free access to ideas, information, educational and scientific research, cultural
experiences and educational opportunities.
What are the library timings?
The library is open from 9a.m to 10p.m on all working days and 9a.m to 7p.m on weekends.
How can I register to access the library resources?
All students can register by showing their Skyline University College ID card at
the circulation counter.
How the library and its resources are arranged?
The resources are classified and arranged in to five major sections. They are
- Rental Books Section
- Reference Books Section
- Journal and Magazines Section
- Electronic Library Section
- Discussion Rooms
Are there any noise free rooms available for study?
Yes. We have a designated area with 5 rooms for study and discussions.
What about the library collections?
The library has more than 15400 books, 200 CDs & DVDs, 30 journals & Magazines,
6 Electronic databases and association memberships.
What about the loan duration?
Each student can have a maximum of two reference books at a time and the due date
is seven days from the date of issue. Also five Rental books are issued to each
student for a trimester. Use of non print materials will need permission of the
respective faculty.
Alumni and Outside members are entitled to borrow 2 reference books at a time for
period of 7 days.
Are we allowed to renew the materials borrowed from library?
Users can renew the materials borrowed from Library for 7 more days, if there is
no reservation for the same.
Is there any fine imposed for the overdue items?
A fine of AED 1/= per book per day will be collected from the students.
Dose the library provide any e-database access?
Yes. The library subscribes to EBSCO, ACM Digital library etc. databases for the
benefit of readers.

Can an outsider and alumni become a member of Skyline University
College Library?
Yes. They can become a member of Skyline University College library by paying AED
250 as an annual fee with a Security deposit of AED 500 (Refundable).
What are the library rules and regulations?
- Silence should be maintained in the Library
- Spitting, smoking and other offensive or objectionable practices are strictly prohibited
- Cell phones should be switched off or kept in the silent mode with in Library premises
- Library ID Cards should be shown at entrance & also on demand whenever there is
a Check
- Library ID cards/borrower cards are not transferable. Books are issued against borrower
cards only on production of their own Library ID card
- On completion of course No dues Certificate will be issued only on surrender of
Library ID card / borrower’s card
- Overdue charges will be collected if book is not returned by due date
- If book is lost borrower is responsible to replace the book or pay latest market
price. If title is out of print price will be charged as per Library norms
- No drinks and eatables are allowed in the Library
- Violation of library rules can lead to hefty fines / debarred from Library
- Playing games, downloading games, software, music /video files is strictly prohibited
in the electronic library area
- Library computers are meant for library search only and students are allowed to
work on their assignments also
