Prospective students of SUC or general candidates appearing for IELTS Exam can register at ITC (IELTS Testing Centre) of SUC either in person or through online. ITC of SUC operates in liaison with CES –Centre for exam services. CES is an independent IELTS Test Centre-AE055 which has been established under the auspices of British Council to facilitate institutions. CES supports in developing the venue and its ancillary services. It organizes IELTS tests (both Academic and General Training) at regular intervals at SUC.

  1. 2 passport photographs
  2. A copy of valid passport / UAE National ID /UAE Labor card issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs along with a UAE driving license
Passport photo specifications
  • Two identical passport size photographs
  • Not older than six months
  • Head should be fully shown - looking straight at the camera and without spectacles
  • Photos must have a blue or black background
  • You have to sign on the reverse of the photographs.
  1. The total test time is 2hours and 45 minutes.
  2. The Academic and General Training modules of IELTS consist of four components.
LISTENING
The students are expected to listen to an audio recording produced by the native speakers of English .They listen to academic dialogues and monologues; non-academic dialogues and monologues. They are expected to answer the questions as they listen. Ten minutes are given at the end for the candidates to transfer the answers.

ACADEMIC READING
The students have to read 3 passages on topics of general interest; one of these texts contains a detailed logical argument. They are expected to answer a variety of questions. 40 questions should be answered in one hour. No extra time will be given to transfer the answers.

General Training reading texts are taken from notices, advertisements, newspapers etc. Third section involves reading more extended texts.

ACADEMIC WRITING
This module consists of 2 tasks. In task1, the students are expected to look at a diagram or a graph and present the information in their own words (150 words). In task 2, the students are assessed in their ability to present a solution to the problem, present and justify an opinion, compare and contrast evidence and evaluate and challenge ideas etc. They are expected to write in an appropriate style. (250 words).One hour is given for both the tasks.

GENRAL TRAINING WRITING
In task 1, candidates are asked to respond to a given situation with a letter requesting information or explaining the situation. In task 2 candidates are presented with a point of view and they are assessed on their ability to provide general factual information and present a solution.

SPEAKING
In this module, the student is expected to introduce himself/herself in an oral interview. Later he/she has to talk on a particular topic for 2 minutes. The examiner gives the topic (and one minute is given for preparation).After that he/she has to participate in a discussion for 4-5 minutes. This module assesses the fluency, lexical resource, grammatical range, accuracy, and pronunciation of the students.
You can apply for the exam at the administration department of Skyline from 9:30am – 1.30 pm and 5 pm to 9.30 pm from Sunday to Thursday.

To complete the application you must bring:
  • 2 passport photographs
  • a copy of the acceptable identification you will use to register on the Test Date (see in General Requirements)
  • a copy of your valid passport
ON THE TEST DAY
  • Students should carry their original passport /labor card to the examination centre, without which they are not entitled to write the exam. Photocopies are NOT accepted nor is any other form of ID.
  • The test announcements start at 8 am. Registration starts at 8.15 am. Exam starts at 9 am. Anyone who arrives late will not be admitted to the test.
  • Stationery will be provided in the test rooms. If you wish you can bring your own pencils and erasers.
  • You will only be allowed to take your ID and a clear bottle of water into the test room.
RESULTS DECLARATION
Test Report Form (TRF) is published in a fortnight from the date of the test. Students can collect the TRF from the administration department of SUC. They can also check their results online using their candidate ID, test date, registered ID and date of birth. You need to bring your ID to collect your TRF The TRF is valid for two years from the date of the test.

IELTS TEST FEE
The IELTS test fee is AED 875/-. You may pay by cash or cheque or credit card.

REPEATING THE TEST
You may repeat the IELTS test at any time.

REMARKING FEE
Within six weeks after the test date you can request for your test module(s) to be re-marked. You need to complete the IELTS Enquiry on Results Form and submit the original TRF. A fee of AED 550/- is charged. The outcome will be available six to eight weeks after the receipt of the Enquiry on Results request. The fees will be refunded in full if your result changes to a higher band score.

IELTS CANCELLATION OR TRANSFER POLICY
To cancel your test or transfer to another test date you must complete the Request for Refund of Test Date Transfer Form and submit to the IELTS Registration at least 5 weeks prior to the test date for which you have booked. Please refer to the Last Day for Refunds/Transfers column for each test day above.

When requests for cancellations or transfers are received in accordance with the IELTS Refund and Transfer Policy, fees will be either refunded or transferred to the next available test date. Please note that an administrative fee of up to 25% will be applied for every Refund or Transfer request.

When requests to cancel or transfer are not received 5 weeks prior to the test date and do not comply with the four conditions referred to in the IELTS Refund and Transfer Policy, you will be charged the full fee. Please contact the IELTS Administration for further information.
